Mission Statement of EBF

Our Mission:

EBF’s mission is to further the interests of booksellers throughout Europe. Books are central to the acquisition of literacy, education and knowledge of all kinds: specialist and general, informal and formal, whether for adults or children. Books build and transmit the culture, science and history of Europe, and the European identity lives through the written word.

Our Objectives:

The objectives of EBF are:

  • to represent and promote the interests of booksellers vis-à-vis the European institutions
  • to provide information about the role of booksellers as economic and cultural stakeholders
  • to assist the booksellers’ associations to develop professional standards within bookselling

By strengthening the link between booksellers’ associations from across Europe, EBF also fosters the exchange of best practice between its members and acts as a forum for discussion and cooperation between the representative bodies of booksellers throughout Europe. There are millions of different books currently in print in Europe. Books on every subject under the sun. Such diversity. Such choice. And your bookseller should be able to obtain every single one of them for you.
